WSGN Gadsden Technical Problem

Early Saturday morning, July 26, 91.5 WSGN lost the audio feed from Birmingham. The problem developed when a line of severe thunderstorms swept through the state. We had lost our dedicated circuit which delivers the program audio to the WSGN transmitter, located just north of Noccalula Falls, on Lookout Mountain. We immediately notified AT&T of the problem, and learned a short while later that there was indeed a problem with water inside a telecommunications cable, which affected WSGN's circuit, as well as other telecomunications circuits in the area.

The circuit was restored on Monday morning, July 28. However, we were still having a problem receiving the audio from Birmingham. Essentially, the equipment used to interface the two ends of the circuit, was unable to synchronize.

Our technicians have been working with AT&T, and the manufacturer of the T1 circuit equipment to resolve the problem as soon as possible. WSGN will be back on the air when the repairs are complete.

We ask our listeners in the Gadsden area to please bear with us as we resolve this unfortunate situation, and accept our apologies for the interruption.
