the B-52s

In the late 1970's Athens, Georgia didn't have much to offer in the way of music. One night, a group of friends were hanging out and decided to write a song. After all, it was something to do. A few months later, the B-52s were playing their first gig. Thirty-two years later they're still making music. Best known for their upbeat party songs such as Rock Lobster and Love Shack, their sound is a fusion of punk, new wave and vintage rock. Tomorrow night, the B-52s play the Crawfish Boil in downtown Birmingham. WBHM's Michael Krall spoke with Fred Schneider (right of center with sunglasses) of the B-52s, and asked him about the group's signature sound....
